Older couple embracing each other and smiling, ashburn vaAdjusting to dentures can take some time, but Posh Smiles can help you through the process. Here are a few helpful tips from Dr. Baftechi to help you get used to the fit and feel of your new replacement teeth:

Tips for Adjusting to Dentures

  • Start Slowly  Wear your dentures a few hours a day at first. As you adjust, gradually increase the time you spend wearing them.
  • Practice Speaking — Reading aloud or speaking in front of a mirror can help you gain confidence and adjust to speaking with dentures.
  • Eat Soft Foods — Eating may be one of the more difficult aspects of adjusting to dentures, but soon, you'll be enjoying all your favorite foods again. Start with soft foods that are easy to chew, such as scrambled eggs or mashed potatoes, and slowly introduce harder foods as you become more comfortable and confident.

We're Just a Phone Call Away!

The most crucial thing to remember is to be patient. You won't adjust overnight, but gradual steps will help you adjust without stress or worry. And remember—your caring team at Posh Smiles is always just a phone call away, so contact us at (703) 688-2323 if you have questions or concerns.

Dentures and Partials Technology

Nitrous oxide being administered on a patient at posh smiles in ashburn va

Nitrous Oxide or "Laughing Gas"

Nitrous oxide, also called laughing gas, is a safe and effective way to reduce your anxiety and ensure a comfortable dental procedure. We place a small mask over your nose, and as you inhale a mixture of nitrous and oxygen, you will start to feel very drowsy. The gas induces a feeling of calm and well-being, allowing you to remain relaxed while staying fully conscious and responsive. The drowsy effects dissipate quickly after we remove the mask, so after a few minutes of recovery, you can drive yourself home safely.
